Utility companies and the police conducted raids on four licensed yards in Kampung Sungai Darah, Taman Kilauan, Batu 8 Ijok and Kota Puteri in the yesterday morning. The companies included Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Telekom Malaysia Bhd, Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Bhd (Syabas) and Indah Water Consortium.
Three of these scrap metal dealers have been found with stolen power and telephone cables and five workers were detained. The several kilograms of cables, wires and copper were worth RM200,000.
Police are looking for the owners of the yards.
