354 Boxes of Firecrackers Seized

A 33-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy from Banting were arrested while police seized from them 354 boxes of fireworks worth RM500,000 on Friday evening. They were in a lorry along Jalan Banting-Klang with 50 boxes of fireworks and were heading for Tanjung Sepat.

The rest of the goods were found during two police raids on a storehouse and a terrace house in Tanjung Sepat. The items are believed to have been smuggled from China or Thailand and a syndicate may be involved.

The two have been remanded by police till Wednesday and are investigated under Section 8 of Explosive Act 1957. They face 7 years' fail or fined up to RM10,000, or both.
