State Health Department Engineer Charged with Falsifying Claims

Salmah Sulaiman, aged 40, has been charged on two counts of falsifying travel claims totalling to RM941.10 on Wednesday. The former engineer with the state health department has pleaded not guilty to both charges under Section 11 (c) of Anti-Corruption Agency Act.

Salmah was alleged to have committed the offences in October 2005 at the department office along Jalan Hang Tuah.

The judge has fixed bail at RM3,000 and RM5,000. Her cases will be set for trial on 6 March and 4 July 2007.

If convicted, Salmah faces jail time between 14 days and 20 years and a fine not less than five times the sum or RM20,000, whichever is higher.
