Petaling Jaya
A gang of crash-and-rob robbers active in Perak and Selangor have been arrested by police. Police have been on their trail since last August who have been involved in more than 20 cases.
The robbers, aged between 20 and 30 years, would crash their car into a victim's car to create an accident. When the driver alight from his car to inspect the damage, this was when the gang, armed with choppers or parangs, would rob the driver of cash and valuables.
Seven robbers were in two cars looking around for victims when two police teams from Perak nabbed them near Hutan Melintang. The police were led to a house in Puchong where three more were arrested.
They are believed to have been high on drugs when they rob, sometimes slashing the victims unprovoked. They usually targeted cars such as Toyota Vios, Toyota Altis, Mitsubishi Storm, Toyota Hilux, and Proton Perdana.
Police are still looking for five other members of the gang.
