Bintulu
Three Form Five students, aged 17, from SM Teknik Bintulu have been charged in court for the murder of new student Matteus Merring. They are being charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, but their identities are not known and the maximum death penalty will not be applicable as they are considered juveniles.
The crime was alleged to have occurred on 27 January 2007 at the school hostel's reading room between 5pm and 5.30pm. Post-mortem results indicate that Merring died from trauma to the chest.
The youths are being detained as the offence is not bailable.
The 15 other students from the group have been released on Wednesday as there is not enough evidence to charge them.
