Five burglars entered the Bukit Gasing bungalow of 82-year-old Datuk Albert Mah yesterday morning. The former Penang police chief and former Bukit Bendera MP single-handedly fought with them to force them out but was assaulted in the corridor.
Mah is warded at the Intensive Care Unit of University Malaya Medical Centre. He is said to be in critical condition.
After the men assaulted Mah, they ransacked the house and escaped with two laptops, two digital cameras, jewellery, watches and cash, all worth RM50,000.
