Nguyen Xuan Gun, aged 21 and a Vietnamese national, has been sentenced to four years' jail and four strokes of the cane after he was found guilty of robbing a bank of RM59,950. The court heard that he had robbed the RHB bank branch along Jalan Raja Uda at 2:47pm on 13 February 2007.
He also pleaded guilty to robbing a customer, S. Sivakumar, aged 39, of his gold chain and RM7,000 and Yau Guan Seng, aged 45, and another unidentified person, all at the bank.
Yau was also charged together with Sun Khean Kion @ Soon Khean Kiong, aged 29, to having firearms and ammunition in their possession. They are alleged to have a a Star .32 and a Colt .45 pistol at a house in Taman Selayang, Sungai Puyu on 13 Feb 2007 afternoon.
Their cases have been fixed 3 April 2007 for mention.
