8 March 2007
Klang

Police have determined that the three men involved in the stolen vehicles had been arranging for them to be shipped to Afghanistan, Pakistan and Africa. The men are believed to be part of a group who stole four-wheel-drive vehicles from the Klang Valley, Pahang, and Penang, worth some RM3 million in total.

A suspect was arrested in Pulau Indah on 17 January 2007 and police recovered a Toyota Avanza and a Hicom lorry in a 20-foot container truck. Five more containers were found in Pulau Indah and Northport where five Toyota Hilux, three Toyota Fortuner, a Toyota Rav 4 and a Nissan Frontier were kept.

17 more containers holding 24 more vehicles were discovered to be enroute to the United Arab Emirates. Police managed to stop the cars from being off-loaded at the Jabber Ali Port in Dubai with the help of Interpol and have been arranged to be shipped back to Malaysia.

Police are now looking for two brothers, S. Jeganathan, aged 29, and S. Thiagu, aged 31, and K. Paneerselvam @ Veelasamy, aged 28, to aid in investigations. All three have been previously convicted of car thefts.
