Singaporean Arrested in Relation to Stolen Metal Case

A 41-year-old Singaporean man has been arrested on Friday in his scrap metal yard in Kampung Baru in Subang, Selangor. He was allegedly involved in the trading of stolen scrap metal. 18 tonnes of aluminium bars worth RM160,000 were seized in a raid on the yard.

Police found the lorry, gloves and latex, which were hijacked on 28 February 2007 at the Ayer Keroh rest stop. The 20 tonnes of copper worth RM600,000 are believed to be sold off already.

The suspect has been transferred to the Negeri Sembilan police and will be remanded until 9 March 2007 to aid in investigations.
