Police have arrested a gang of four men who had been robbing gamblers from cruise ships for the past year.

The group, with members aged between 23 and 62, is believed to have robbed 12 times in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Johor, targetting people who had just returned from the cruises. They would have runners who travelled on the ships and tipped the group on the biggest winners.

The latest robbery case they were involved in was reported in Sentul on 12 February 2007, when the the victim lost RM30,000 in cash and valuables.

Police arrested a man last Wednesday at Sg Jarum in Kuala Langat, Selangor, and the other three the next day.

Two Honda Accords were reported stolen and had fake registration plates. A 9mm pistol, a .38 revolver, 44 bullets, 6 Smart Tags and 8 mobile phones were also seized from the group.

The men are being investigated under the Firearms Act 1971, which carries the death sentence if convicted.
