Ipoh

Sunaryo Saleh, aged 30, has been sentenced to 12 years' jail yesterday for the charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder of Mat Tasik, aged 27, at Taman Ampang Indah in Ampang Baru 13 February 2004. Five accomplices are still at large.

The incident started over a slaughtered pigeon that belonged to Mat Tasik's elder brother Murai Murada. The pigeon's blood had spilled on Sunaryo's towel, which caused Sunaryo to be angry as he thought Murai had flung the bird at him. Murai punched him and broke his tooth.

Sunaryo ran off and brought back five friends later and attacked Murai with a piece of wood. Mat Tasik tried to intervene the fight but the group started hitting him instead.
