Ahmad Zaidi Zainol, aged 40, has claimed trial to a bribery charge against him for attempting to receive RM45,000 from a contractor. The army major at the Defence Ministry's human resource department allegedly accepted the bribe from Mohd Azani Abd Rahman as an inducement to approve a quotation to carry out the maintenance and renovation jobs of an office for the Armed Forces at Wisma Pertahanan along Jalan Padang Tembak.

Ahmad allegedly committed the crime at diner along the Sungai Besi highway between 11 December 2003 morning. He pleaded not guilty.

Under Section 16 of the Anti-Corruption Act 1997, Ahmad faces a sentence of up to 20 years' jail and fined five times the amount of the bribe or RM10,000, whichever is higher.

The judge set bail at RM8,000 in one surety and fixed 4 April 2007 for mention.
