A woman co-owner of a budget hotel along India Street has been sentenced to a day's jail and fined RM20,000 for permitting the hotel to be used as a brothel.
45-year-old Lai Phek Ping was assisting in the management of the Khiaw Hin Hotel on 14 February 2004 at 12:15pm when there were three sex workers and their clients in their rooms.
The offence carries a maximum jail term of 15 years and a fine.
Lai paid the fine, which is default for not serving the jail sentence.
