30-year-old Lee Peck Wah was charged in court yesterday for three counts of raping a 22-year-old clerk. Posing as a spiritual medium and healer, he allegedly raped the woman on 8 and 9 December 2007 at a hotel along Jalan Batu Tiga Lama and on 16 December 2007 at a hotel along Jalan Kapar.
The accused, from Rantau Panjang, Kapar, claimed trial to the charges. His lawyer stated that Lee worked as an excavator operator and not a medium.
Under Section 376 of the Penal Code, each charge carries a maximum jail term of 30 years and whipping.
The judge granted bail at RM15,000 in one surety and set 18 to 20 August 2008 for hearing.
