A mother and son team who were part of a major pirated DVD distribution network have been arrested. Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs enforcement staff also seized RM140,000 worth of discs from a condominium unit at Fettes Park yesterday morning.
2,500 DVDs were found in the condominium and 6,000 more were placed in a Proton Perdana at the car park.
The offence under the Copyright Act 1987 law carries a fine of between RM2,000 and RM20,000 per infringing copy or five years' jail or both.
