Kuala Lumpur
A former theme park executive who was on the run for two years has been arrested for cheating people of cash and valuables. The 37-year-old man was caught when he was with his Sri Lankan wife and six-month-old child at a house in Taman Midah, Cheras.
The suspect escaped to Sri Lanka to hide in 2005 when police reports were lodged against him.
Initial investigations showed that the man had been cheating several young woman, mostly air stewardesses, of their money and valuables, estimated to be worth thousands of ringgit. He managed to gain their trust by proposing to marry them and would ask for their assets to settle certain debts.
A relative of the suspect has also been arrested.
