Penang Narcotics Department officers arrested a 39-year-old man at an apartment in Relau on Saturday, effectively busting a major drug syndicate there. The man had been arrested several times for drug offences previously. The syndicate has been trafficking amphetamine type of stimulant pills via numerous drug pushers.
Officers found various drugs at the apartment, including 300g of syabu worth RM100,000 and 500 Erimin 5 pills. On Monday, the suspect led officers to a processing laboratory along Kajang Road, off Jalan Datuk Keramat, where they found 43kg of caffeine and 30g of methamphetamine powder.
Police seized the drugs, two machines that were used to compress pills and several moulds. The suspect has been remanded for two weeks and the case classified by the police as trafficking under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
