Community Policing to be Introduced in Johor Baru

Police in Johor Baru are about to introduce a new method of fighting the rampant crimes called community policing. Leveraging on greater cooperation of the public, community policing will enhance the relationship between police and residents.

Each police district will be divided into several zones, each of which is under the charge of an officer with the least rank of chief inspector. Acting state police chief Senior Assistant Commissioner I Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said that the "office rmust know the residents, their problems, exchange phone numbers, get feedback and take action".

Taman Mutiara Rini, Nusajaya will be the first zone to implement community policing. There are five police stations in Nusajaya, covering 14 zones. Each police station will take charge of several zones depending on population size.

Nusajaya OCPD Superintendent Abd Aziz Ahmad says that the force targets to set up all 14 zones by the middle of next month.
