Kuala Lumpur
The Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) has nabbed seven policemen, including a chief inspector at a district police headquarters, for corruption. They were remanded last Friday and have been released on bail.
The seven had raided a house in Sentul last Thursday and arrested a man on a drug charge. They allegedly asked for RM13,000 from the suspect to let him go. As the man had only RM8,000, they took that amount and released him.
The next day, one of the policemen went to the suspect's Kepong house to allegedly demand another RM5,000 from him. The suspect told him to come back later and contacted the ACA. When the policeman returned, ACA officers ambushed him.
Investigations on this suspect led the arrest of seven of them.
