Youth Gang Terrorize Two Houses
29 August 2007
Shah Alam
A gang of youths retaliated two houses in Section 20 on Sunday after police detained some youths during a rampage in Section 17 two weeks ago.
V. Kaliamma, aged 46, was one of the residents of the two houses which were targeted at 2:30am. She was with her three sons and daughter when the group started to hit the two cars they owned with parangs, sticks and bricks. The youths then climbed over the front gate and smashed the glass of the front grille.
It is believed that the households did not report about the incident in Section 17 to the police although the youths were heard asking why they did that.
After that, the youths went to the other house where S. Poopathy was staying and wrecked three cars there.
Shah Alam police have identified the gang responsible and will make arrests soon.

German Tourist Kidnapped for Five Days
29 August 2007
Kuala Lumpur
Three men and two women of Pakistan, Cambodia, and Indonesia nationalities, including a local, have been arrested by police in relation to a kidnap incident of a German tourist of Pakistani origin on 19 August 2007.
The suspect was released on Friday after his family in Germany and Pakistan paid the ransom of E17,700 (RM84,960) and 500,000 rupees (RM44,250).
On 4 August 2007, the victim businessman came to Malaysia with three relatives for a vacation. While having dinner at the Lido Hotel in Brickfields where they checked into, a Pakistani befriended them.
The Pakistani invited the victim to his apartment in Klang for a family dinner. When the victim reached the place, he was forced into a room and assaulted by three men armed with sticks and a parang. They robbed him of E3,000. The three relatives were contacted by the suspects and were ordered to give E12,000 and their passports as ransom.
Two of the suspects went to the hotel at 20 August 2007 to collect the cash and passports, after which they made a report at the Brickfields police station saying that the relatives were illegal immigrants. Police detained the relatives later but were released when they explained about the kidnapping.
The suspects forced the victim to call his wife in Germany on 21 August 2007 to instruct her to electronically transfer E2,700 to the Western Union branch in Klang. Later, the suspects demanded 500,000 rupees from the victim's father in Lahore, Pakistan, the next day.
On Friday, the victim was sent to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport by a taxi. Instead, the victim told the taxi driver to bring him to the German embassy where he reported his case.
That night at 7:45pm, police raided an apartment in Bukit Kuda Apartments, Klang and arrested the suspects. They found toy pistols but were not able to recover the ransom money.
Police are looking for two more suspects, both Pakistani nationals in their 40s. It is believed that one of them is the mastermind of the kidnap.

Four Policemen Suspended for Alleged Assault on Indonesian
29 August 2007
Seremban
Four policemen from the Nilai police station have been suspended of their duties pending investigations on the alleged assault of an Indonesian karate expert. Statements were taken from them and they were given their suspension notices yesterday.
The two constables were in service for less than a year and the lance corporals have been in service for between 5 to 15 years.
On Friday at 2am in Nilai, the four were doing their patrol rounds when they stopped Donald Pieter Luther Kolopita who was walking back to his hotel. Kolopita was the umpire in the Indonesian squad which was taking part in the Asian Karate Championship there between 24 and 26 August 2007.
The four said they stopped the man because he was behaving suspiciously. When they started to question him, Kolopita tried to run away. The men caught him again but Kolopita allegedly punched and kicked them. In his police report, Kolopita alleged that he was handcuffed and assaulted by the four. He was then taken to the Nilai police station and was released only after spending five hours in the lock-up.
Kolopita's team members and officials from the organising committee brought him to a hospital. He sustained some broken ribs, swollen testicles and swelling on his face.

Two Teenage Robbery Gangs Busted
28 August 2007
Klang
Police have solved at least 52 robbery cases with the arrests of 22 suspects from two gangs, known as the Waja and Vicky gangs. The gangs are allegedly involved in armed robbery on shops and houses over the last three months. The areas in which they hit were Klang Utama, Kapar, Taman Sentosa, Shah Alam and Kuala Selangor, targeting housewives and people who were leaving for work.
The suspects from the Vicky gang were either teenagers or in their early 20s, and would slash their victims with their parangs ruthlessly. They would travel in six cars and three motorcycles. Groups of four would be formed, using a Toyota Altis, Honda City, Toyota Vios, Toyota Avanza, Proton Wira and Proton Iswara.
However, it was revealed that four Vicky gang members, including the 19-year-old leader, were currently put under the Restricted Residents Act in Sik, Kedah, where they were to sign in weekly. Thus, it was possible that these suspects would join with the rest of the gang to commit robberies in between.
The Waja gang is allegedly responsible for at least 36 robbery cases. They would use cars stolen from their victims, such as a Proton Waja and two Perodua Kancil. The leader of the gang is a 20-year-old man with the alias Panjang.
This gang's common targetted areas were Taman Klang Jaya, Bandar Puteri, Taman Sentosa, Taman Chi Liung, Taman Selatan and Palm Grove.
Police are looking for the following people to aid in further investigation: A. Sivakumar @ Langkawi, 21 years old, from Section 20, Shah Alam, M. Mokan @ Mogan, 18 years old, G. Mugunthan @ Moon, 19 years old, and J. Danarush @ Dhanaraj, 17 years old, all from Desa Latania, Shah Alam.

Rashid was found dead with multiple stab wounds in his chest at his Desa Tun Razak apartment last Tuesday.
The four, including two women, were nabbed as they entered the victim's car in Masjid Tanah, Malacca at 3pm. The stolen Hyundai Atos car had false number plates when police seized it. Some of Rashid's personal belongings were found with them.
One of them is believed to have befriended Rashid at a gay club in Cheras a few months ago. They were seen together several times including 11 August 2007.
On that day, the two had bought a meal from a fast food restaurant along the south-bound highway near the Sungai Besi toll area before heading to Rashid's residence. Three days later, two of Rashid's colleagues found him dead in his apartment when he had failed to turn up for work.
Police believe that the two had an argument over RM100 that was owed to Rashid. The suspects were unemployed and had been remanded for eight days.

Former Revenue Board Officer Arrested for Million Ringgit Fraud
20 August 2007
Kuala Lumpur
A 44-year-old former Internal Revenue Board (IRB) officer and two others, aged 30 and 45 years, were arrested last Thursday at 11:30am for involvement in a stamp duty scam that has swindled hundreds of millions of ringgit.
The officer was the mastermind behind a syndicate that started since 2004, who misused his knowledge and position to bypass the authorised board stamp duty franking office and creating his own stamp duty franking service. CCID officers also seized forged rubber stamps and other paraphernalia. Some of the business agreements were made with law firms and financial institutions valued at hundreds of millions of ringgit.
CCID director Comm Datuk Ramli Yusuff said that his officers are working with the IRB to seek out the remaining members of the syndicate and all fraudulent documents.
