Johor Baru

Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Fu Ah Kiow said that Johor has seen crime rates decreasing by 7.3 per cent in the first seven months of this year compared to the same period last year. There were 16,882 cases last year while there were 15,646 between January and July this year.

Despite the crime rate dropping by 11.9 per cent in Johor Baru, Fu agreed that people are still fearful of the crime risks there compared to Singapore.

Fu said that the police is setting up three district police headquarters in Johor Baru and one each in Batu Pahat, Muar and Segamat. 21 new police stations would also be set up in Johor. Since August this year, 400 new police officers were recruited and 200 new patrol cars were procured.
