Altantuya Murder Trial: Police Officer Cannot Remember Dates

26 October 2007
Shah Alam

40-year-old Sergeant Amran Abdul Aziz gave a confusing testimony in the murder trial of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu yesterday. He was the officer in charge of transporting the closed-circuit television video tapes on 10 November 2006 from Hotel Malaya where Altantuya had stayed.

Amran told the court yesterday that he had given the tapes to ASP Tonny Lunggan on 11 November 2006. He wrote "Nov 11" on one of the tapes and "Nov 6" on the other two. He could not explain the reason for writing "Nov 6".

In his investigation diary, Amran had recorded the labels of the three tapes obtained. He stated in the diary that the tapes were passed to Lunggan on 10 and 11 November 2006, while his hand-over form had 10 November 2006.

The trial continues on Monday.
