A 55-year-old man was sentenced on Wednesday to 12 years' jail for raping his foster daughter. His sentence was to run from the date of arrest on 26 August 1997. He pleaded guilty to raping the daughter in an iron factory storeroom in Gunung Rapat between March and 24 August 1997.
The man had spent the last 10 years at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta after a judge ruled that he was mentally unsound and unable to stand trial then.
