It is believed that a 56-year-old divorcee was doused with petrol and burnt near her Rifle Range flat on Wednesday 3:30am by her son. The victim, Chooi Kwi Chun, was found at a car park behind a post office in Taman Boundry.
Flat security guard Abdul Rahman Abdullah was at the guardhouse when he noticed something burning. After putting the fire out, he found a charred body and reported the matter to the Kampung Baru police station.
Post-mortem results suggested that Chooi was likely beaten as there were bruises on her lips and head.
The son, in his 30s, was arrested after he went to the same police station the next morning to lodge a missing person report on Chooi.
Police have classified the case as murder.
