Three Arrested Over Murder of Woman and Daughter

5 November 2007
Johor Baru

Police have arrested three people, including a couple, in relation with the murder of a 36-year-old woman and her 3-year-old daughter who were burnt alive in their car.

The couple, a 34-year-old man and a 18-year-old woman, made a dubious police report about the case at the Kluang police station on Saturday morning. They were nabbed shortly thereafter.

Police believed that the victims had gone to the couple's house in Taman Saga, Kulai to deliver some direct selling goods on Friday night. They were then taken to Batu 6 of the Kluang-Mersing road and burnt alive.

The post-mortem study showed that the two had died from smoke inhalation.

The three suspects have been remanded until 10 November 2007.
