Kuala Lumpur

55-year-old Datuk Ramli Yusuff stands as the highest ranked police officer to be charged with failing to declare his assets. Having spent 38 years in the force, the Commercial Crime Investigation Department director was in court yesterday after he was known to be the senior police who failed to declare about RM27 million worth of assets.

Ramli was accompanied by his wife, Sessions Court judge Datin Anita Haron, and their 14-year-old daughter Nur Azrin Aqilah.

Ramli claimed trial to all three charges against him. Anti-Corruption Agency deputy public prosecutors applied for him to surrender his passport and a bail of RM40,000 with one surety.

The Sessions Court judge granted bail at RM20,000 in one surety, and fixed four days beginning 15 January 2008 for hearing.
