The TV3 newscaster who was identified previously as having his mobile phone number appearing on accused Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri's mobile phone and several calls between them on 18 October 2006 appeared in High Court yesterday for the murder trial of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu.
26-year-old newscaster and broadcast journalist Mohd Izwan Azir Mohad Salleh said he went to the Bukit Aman officers' mess for a karaoke session on 18 October 2006. He claimed that Azilah and himself have been friends since 2005. They had dined at the Seri Melayu restaurant along Jalan Conlay.
Izwan said he went home after an hour at the karaoke session and had not met Azilah since. He told the court that he sent one short message to Azilah the next day and that he had his mobile phone with him during October last year.
