High Court Judge Datuk Mohd Zaki Md Yasin yesterday rebuked lawyer J. Kuldeep Kumar who represented accused Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri in the murder trial of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu. He told him, "If this is a traffic summons case, I would have long stopped you from examining this witness further but this is a case involving a death sentence so I give you the opportunity to pose questions."
Kuldeep had spent almost three hours questioning Celcom mobile access planning technician Haizal Hambali on two call transaction records made by Azilah. These records have been produced in court in previous sessions by the prosecution.
Haizal denied making any test calls from places other than those listed in the transaction list. He also said he did not make any arrangement with the police to write down the names of transmission stations into the transaction list by tracing the route from the house of accused political analyst Abdul Razak Abdullah Baginda and the murder scene.
The trial continues today.
