Police have recovered over RM2.5 million worth of stolen goods, including luxury cars, with the arrest of members of four robbery gangs in the past month. The gangs have been responsible for stealing cars, armed robberies and house break-ins over the last 5 years.
On 13 December 2007, police caught the 31-year-old leader of the Pari Gang in Desa Sri Hartamas and the ex-leader of the Mamak Gang, a 52-year-old man in Cheras. The former suspect was related to the Man Power Gang, which was involved in 18 armed robbery cases. He was caught with parangs, knives, and a Proton Perdana V6 vehicle.
Two members of the Muhibbah Gang were detained after police raided a house in Taman Segar, Cheras, on 17 December 2007. 64 items were seized, including an antique telephone, quantity survey equipment, and computers. The gang leader is still at large.
Authorities also recovered several luxury cars such as a BMW X5, Audi and Mercedes-Benz E240 in Sungai Buloh, Bukit Mertajam and Subang Jaya.
