36-year-old M. Elangoran has been sentenced to 688 months' jail for trafficking 86 illegal immigrants into Malaysia last year.
The bus driver from Ipoh was sentenced to 8 months' jail for every illegal immigrant he allowed on the bus he was driving. The bus was plying on the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration Complex exit route on 3 February 2006 at 7:30am.
The magistrate has set bail at RM15,000 in one surety and ordered for the bus to be forfeited.
