62-year-old Tan Poh Choo was strangled and beaten to death during a robbery while she was at home at Kampung Tengah, Teluk Kerang, on Thursday night. Her body was discovered by her niece's boyfriend at 9pm when he visited her.
Tan's niece was staying in Singapore at that time and had tried to call her a few times that night but there was no answer.
Police investigations indicate that Tan was strangled with a piece of nylon string and hit on the head with a blunt object. Her hands and feet were tied and the niece's red Perodua Kancil was missing at the house.
