Penang
Police are searching three streams at Kampung Melayu, Kek Lok Si Temple, and the Paya Terubong cemetery for more remains of missing 3-year-old girl Shearwey Ooi Ying Ying. Forensic pathologist Datuk Dr Bhupinder Singh has confirmed a collarbone and two bones of an arm to be those of a child.
Police said the bone fragments that were sent to the Chemistry Department in Kuala Lumpur should yield DNA results within two weeks.
Shearwey's father, Ooi Eng Chew, was at the Balik Pulau district police station to record his police statement yesterday. His father, Kean Choon, aged 52, and a friend, were with him at the station for three hours.
