Nibong Tebal
37-year-old businesswoman Lee Kooi Im was believed to have strangled to death her 11-year-old son, Loo Yoke Jie, at home and killed herself by running into the path of a bus along the North-South Expressway.
Kooi Im had parked her car under a flyover at KM205.6 of the expressway about an hour after Yoke Jie died. She had left a note saying "I won't disturb you any more. May you live in peace". The bus driver had tried to swerve to avoid her but failed. She died instantly yesterday at 12:30pm.
The note also contained a telephone number which belonged to her husband, Loo Chye Cheang, aged 42.
Loo owns a workshop in Nibong Tebal and rushed to Taiping Hospital when Kooi Im's sister called him about the accident.
However, the post-mortem from Parit Buntar Hospital on their eldest son said that he could have died from suffocation in their Taman Selesa home at 8:30am. Police recovered a pillow from the scene.
The couple has another 18-month-old son, who was taken care by a babysitter at that time.
Police initially classified the case as murder.
