A homemade bomb has exploded at the concourse area of the Puduraya bus terminal in Kuala Lumpur. The bomb was placed in a snack wrapper and left on a bench at the entrance to platform 7 and went off at 9:10pm yesterday.
11-year-old Aqilah Nadiah Zamzar suffered burns on her face, right hand and chest as she was sitting on the bench with her aunt and cousin. They were waiting to board a bus to Kota Tinggi.
Aqilah was admitted to the paediatric ward at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital. Her condition is now stable.
Police have found batteries, a can, mineral water bottle and gunpowder at the scene and are going through the CCTV footage at the terminal. The bomb was possible made using carbide and a motorcycle battery and placed in a half-full one litre mineral water bottle, which the liquid content inside is unknown.
Puduraya management said there was no damage to the building and bus services were not affected.
